Ok. Here are quite a few of my shortlisted venues for banquets sorted in alphabetical order.
Since we'll be having a weekend dinner, I'll list down only prices per table of 10. Stated prices are for 2012 (If we're lucky, we may be able to retain the prices provided we book early) otherwise stated.
All prices are NETT after calculation of pertaining charges. (GST and service charges)
Expected angbao return rates are for year 2012 weekend dinners only.
Gains/losses are calculated with the LATEST banquet rates against median angbao rates from 2012 (some might give more, some less). We shouldn't be complacent and expect angbaos to increase since crisis in on its way.

I'm growing into a miser.
Ok so we've scrapped all the outdoor wedding stuff.
Bringing everyone up to date, we've decided on a traditional wedding banquet to please all the elders. (Hopefully we'll be pleased too.)
I can't help but realize how much a bad person I've become. I'm constantly trying to pick up good deals from couples who've fallen out or who're unable to proceed with the wedding.
I am so bad.
But can it be helped? Prices increase $30-$50 every few months. We can only leech onto others' misfortunes for us (commoners) to have a decent wedding that my mother would be proud of and father would hold his silence for life.
Well, crunching numbers everyday has turned me into an unpleasant person. Looking forward to gaining from others' downfalls everyday. Lol.
Please let us grab a super super good deal. *Prays hard*
I pray damn hard that we'll be able to enjoy every micro bit of it. Amen Amen.

Photo Ideas
I've somewhat decided on a few locations for our pre wedding shots with east coast park outside 1-TwentySix being our backdrop, Punggol marina and perhaps SIM.
It's where we've gotten together, gotten back together and where a significant time of our courtship was spent.
It would mean a lot to me if we were able to capture everything on this pre wedding photoshoot.
I'm afraid I'd forget them some day, these memories which I hold dearly.
I wish that some day, even if I've become old and my memories failing me, this album will help me remember these precious moments where time stood still for us. And it'll be for us to tell our kids the story of our life. :)

Updates!
So well, some quotes from a few hotels came in and I've gathered all relevant packages from country clubs.
On some level, I do agree that lunch packages for some hotels offers a lot more perks but they also attract a smaller angbao.
While it is a celebration of love, my husband to be and I have decided to take angbaos into consideration.
Shall update the blog when I have decided on dinner at country clubs/ulu babi hotels or lunch at reputable 4* hotels. :)

Wedding Invitation Cards
Something popped into my mind!
I just thought of something which'll actually be really cool.
How about using baby's card printer for printing invitation cards?
It'll be small (wallet friendly!) so guests can carry them around.
I can already imagine how it'll look like.
It's gonna be damn cool I tell ya. :)

Ivan was right.
We'd definitely need to take a look at the layout of things and smooth out the bumps along the way.
I have loved Burkill Hall since the moment I laid eyes on it's mini preview in a magazine.
But I guess, if another venue can offer just as much with smoother arrangements, why not right? *Shrugs*
I asked Ivan if event coordinators were for hire. Unlike wedding planners, I would have hired necessary vendors. Their job was to simply make sure things are in order for that day alone. Sure enough, he corrected me right away. "Those are called wedding planners." Rofl. Damn can't we get a student to make sure things are where it should be? >:(
We haven't even included photographers, logistics, live band, decorations, stationaries, and so on. And we've already blown our budget per pax on food alone based on our estimation.
How very depressing really.
I guess I shall look through previously dismissed venues to lower our costs tomorrow.

For wedding package, its $688, inclusive of the following:
1 Eyebrow trimming & shaping
1 Makeup & 1 Hairstyling for Bridal Day
1 Makeup & 1 Hairstyling for Bridal Night
1 Trial Makeup (Complimentary)
1 Pair of fake eyelash (Complimentary)
1 Groom Touch Up (Complimentary)
1 Bio-Active Serum Mask (Complimentary)
While most services by freelance makeup artists cost roughly $900-$1000, this is a perk really. Moreover, she's done many fashion shows and is a celebrity makeup herself!
Have emailed asking if she has done any single/double eyelid cases due to the fact that I have an eye that's single and the other's double. Shall wait for her reply!

Well, as the venue specialist replied, most couples with approx. 200 guests would hold most of crowd outdoor in the front lawn. The indoors can only hold 150 max. I wouldn't want my guests to turn grumpy if weather turns for the worse.

I just thought of something.
We could use baby's card printer to print cards/stickers, fully customizable with the photos taken with life sized cut outs of us and print them out as a thank you gift.
What an inexpensive idea!
But we'd most definitely won't be able to invite his colleagues. Haha!

My first post.
Well, Ben is a good friend. He does both prewedding and actual day wedding shoots at a fraction of most well known photographers. I think he's good. But he also claims that he isn't a seasoned wedding photographer.
Rates at $100-$150! How can you even compare. Very tempting indeed. :(
That aside, he also informed me that rental of NParks venue is going at $1500/4 hours block WITHOUT decorations and food. The venue alone, if we decide to hold it there, is going to cost a bomb. And it doesn't even come with a complimentary bridal suite to say the least.
Shall keep this post updated.
