Ok. Here are quite a few of my shortlisted venues for banquets sorted in alphabetical order.
Since we'll be having a weekend dinner, I'll list down only prices per table of 10. Stated prices are for 2012 (If we're lucky, we may be able to retain the prices provided we book early) otherwise stated.
All prices are NETT after calculation of pertaining charges. (GST and service charges)
Expected angbao return rates are for year 2012 weekend dinners only.
Gains/losses are calculated with the LATEST banquet rates against median angbao rates from 2012 (some might give more, some less). We shouldn't be complacent and expect angbaos to increase since crisis in on its way.
As another precaution, I've decided to add in another calculation for those hotels with stipulated angbaos over $120 too. Let's not assume everyone's willing to give over a certain sum. And we've decided that $120 is a comfortable amount.

My wedding was not big fat one. But yeah! Houston Wedding venues make my celebration more romantic and special with their amazing ideas of decoration. I really loved it.
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to be rude, and I know this post is a few years old, but for you to think of how much you'll 'gain' made me feel ill. This post smacks of money-grubbing. Most of the calculations don't even make sense - why would you get angbao of at least $130 per pax for a hotel like Swissotel Merchant Court? It's not like others can't find out how much each table costs for your dinner.

Calculations aren't based on how much you'll gain, it's a gauge for how much not to make you dip into your savings at the end of the day to make up for an extravagant wedding that is irrecoverable. Which was why we chose to hold it at Parkroyal on Kitchener. Decent yet more affordable than most. i think it was also our responsibility to make sure our guests don't feel pressured or feel bad that they have unwillingly caused us losses. I think a lot of couples don't think about recovering costs that they actually end up with a lot of debts and quarrels that were unnecessary. Therefore these calculations did help us pay for our entire wedding including wedding bands and what not. :)
